Air Purifier Repair, Done Right the First Time

GE air purifiers are mostly a fan, a filter stack, sensors and a control board, so weak airflow or a filter light that will not clear is usually a straightforward fix.

Purifiers are simple appliances, which makes them economical to repair when a part has genuinely failed and easy to diagnose when it has not. Weak airflow is nearly always the filter stack or accumulated dust on the impeller; noise is the fan motor or a mounting that has worked loose; a filter light that will not clear is a reset procedure or a sensor.

We check the actual airflow, inspect the fan and the filter seating, verify that the fitted filters are the correct ones for the model, and test the sensors and control. If the unit is out of warranty and the fault is a control board on an inexpensive model, we say plainly when replacement is the better value.

Why Trust Us With Your GE Air Purifier

  • Tested, Not Guessed | We test the suspected air purifier part before recommending that anything is replaced.
  • Parts for Popular Models | Commonly needed air purifier parts travel with our technicians; less common parts are ordered and the return visit is scheduled before we leave.
  • Safety First | Power, water and gas are isolated before we work on your air purifier, and high-voltage and refrigerant work is handled only by the technician.
  • Warranty-Aware Advice | If your air purifier may still be under manufacturer coverage we tell you, because a repair by anyone other than an authorized technician can put that coverage at risk.

Air Purifier Repair FAQ

Most models need the indicator reset after a filter change, and the reset procedure is in the owner's manual for your model. If the correct reset does not clear it, the sensor or the control board is the next thing to check.

Only the pre-filter, and only if the manual for your model says so. HEPA and carbon filters are not washable - washing them damages the media and leaves you with a purifier that moves air without cleaning it. Replace them on the schedule in your manual.

A loaded pre-filter, dust built up on the fan blades, or a failing fan motor or bearing are the usual causes. We check the airflow path and the motor rather than assuming a new filter has solved it.
