GE sells over-the-range microwaves, countertop models, built-in microwave drawers and combination wall-oven microwaves. The mechanical parts – door switches, latch, fan motors, turntable motor – are ordinary repairs. The cooking circuit is not: the magnetron, high-voltage transformer, diode and capacitor carry charges that require the correct discharge procedure, and we treat any no-heat complaint as high-voltage work.
For over-the-range units we also check the venting, because a fan running against a blocked or incorrectly configured duct makes the unit run hot and shortens the life of the parts above the cooktop. Filters get checked at the same visit – grease filters are washable and charcoal filters are replaceable, and both affect airflow.
Common Microwave Problems
Turntable turns and the light works but food stays cold
Loud buzzing or humming as soon as a cycle starts
Unit shutting off part-way through a program
Vent fan on an over-the-range model not running
Touch panel dead or only some pads responding
Burning smell or arcing inside the cavity

Why Trust Us With Your GE Microwave
- Tested, Not Guessed | We test the suspected microwave part before recommending that anything is replaced.
- Parts for Popular Models | Commonly needed microwave parts travel with our technicians; less common parts are ordered and the return visit is scheduled before we leave.
- Safety First | Power, water and gas are isolated before we work on your microwave, and high-voltage and refrigerant work is handled only by the technician.
- Warranty-Aware Advice | If your microwave may still be under manufacturer coverage we tell you, because a repair by anyone other than an authorized technician can put that coverage at risk.
