What PF Means
PF on a GE dishwasher means there has been a power failure to the dishwasher. GE's guidance is straightforward: select the cycle and options you want, press Start, and the dishwasher will function normally. It is telling you a cycle was interrupted, not reporting a broken part.
Common Causes of PF
- Household outage or tripped breaker during a cycle
- Loose wiring connection at the dishwasher junction box
- Failing breaker or shared circuit overloaded by another appliance
- Control board not riding out brief supply dips
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Re-select your cycle and press Start. If there is standing water in the tub from the interrupted cycle, choose a rinse or drain cycle first so it empties. If PF keeps appearing when there has been no outage in the house, note how often and mention it when booking service - repeated PF with no outage usually means the dishwasher is losing supply at the outlet, junction box or breaker.
