What Unlock Door Means
GE documents Unlock Door as the door not unlocking after a self-clean cycle, and points owners to a control reset. It is a lock-release problem: the cycle has finished but the mechanism has not returned the door to unlocked.
Common Causes of Unlock Door
- Cavity still above the safe unlock temperature
- Door lock motor or assembly failed part-way through its travel
- Lock position switch not reporting
- Control fault after the clean cycle
- Door or hinge misalignment binding the lock
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Let the oven cool completely - the lock will not release above its safety threshold, and after self-clean that can take a couple of hours. Then ge's own first step is to switch the oven's circuit breaker off for a minute or two and then restore power. Try the door once the display has cleared. Never force it: on a built-in oven you will damage the door and trim long before the lock lets go. If it stays locked, book service.
