The GFC325 behaves like the rest of the compact Disposall range: jams and thermal trips dominate, and a genuinely dead motor is less common than owners expect. Noise that has grown over time is often a worn splash guard or a mounting ring that has loosened rather than a failing motor.
Before any check, turn the disposer off at the wall switch and turn off the breaker for the circuit. Clear a visible jam with tongs only, press the reset underneath, then restore power. Anything below the sink flange, including the mount and the drain connections, is plumbing work.
