Cooktops fail in more predictable ways than most appliances, which makes the diagnosis fast. On radiant models it is normally the element itself, the infinite switch behind the knob, or a control board on touch-control versions. On gas models it is the electrode, the switch in the valve or the spark module. On induction it is usually a power board or a cooling fan, and an induction fault code needs the service literature for that platform to read properly.
We also check the obvious installation issues that mimic faults: a cooktop clamped too tightly against the countertop, blocked ventilation under a downdraft model, or a supply issue that only shows when several zones run together. Cracked glass is quoted as a part-availability question first, because on older models the replacement top may no longer be made.
Common Cooktop Problems
One radiant zone dead while the others still heat
Zone stuck on full power regardless of the setting
Gas burner sparking continuously after it has lit
Induction zone beeping and displaying a fault character
Touch controls responding to the wrong zone
Cracked or chipped glass surface

Why Trust Us With Your GE Cooktop
- Tested, Not Guessed | We test the suspected cooktop part before recommending that anything is replaced.
- Parts for Popular Models | Commonly needed cooktop parts travel with our technicians; less common parts are ordered and the return visit is scheduled before we leave.
- Safety First | Power, water and gas are isolated before we work on your cooktop, and high-voltage and refrigerant work is handled only by the technician.
- Warranty-Aware Advice | If your cooktop may still be under manufacturer coverage we tell you, because a repair by anyone other than an authorized technician can put that coverage at risk.
