What tC Means
tC is not a fault. On GE models with the feature, it shows that TurboCool is running: the refrigerator is deliberately cooling hard for a set period to pull down a compartment that was loaded with warm groceries or left open. GE lists it among normal function displays, and the refrigerator returns to its usual settings on its own when the cycle ends.
Common Causes of tC
- TurboCool selected by hand
- TurboCool started automatically after a large warm load, on models that do that
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Nothing needs doing. Let the cycle finish; the display clears itself and the previous temperature settings come back. If you want it off sooner, press the TurboCool pad again to cancel. It is normal for the compressor and fans to run louder and longer than usual while it is active.
