What DE Means
DE means the refrigerator is in demo mode, the showroom setting that lights the display and lets the controls respond while cooling is disabled. GE's guidance is to unplug the refrigerator for one to two minutes, then reconnect it, and to contact support if the code stays. It is a setting, not damage - but nothing inside will get cold while it is active.
Common Causes of DE
- Demo or showroom mode left enabled on a floor-model or newly delivered unit

- Control board not exiting demo mode after a power cycle

If the display still shows DE afterwards, the control needs attention rather than more resets.
