What F64 Means
F64 means the main control received an error from the inverter that drives the wash motor. This code belongs to GE's LCD-display dishwasher controls (the panels that spell out F-numbers), not the older C1-C8 panels. The inverter has reported its own fault rather than simply going missing, which usually means the motor circuit or the inverter itself is in trouble.
Common Causes of F64
- Failed inverter board
- Wash motor drawing excessive current or with a shorted winding
- Motor jammed by debris in the pump housing
- Harness fault between inverter and motor
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
One power reset is the owner-level step: switch the dishwasher's breaker off for about 30 seconds, restore power and run a short cycle. If F64 comes back, stop there. Motor and inverter faults need measurements under load, and there is nothing an owner can adjust from the panel.

- Inverter and motor testing is live work under the tub with mains voltage present.
- A motor jammed by glass fragments and a failed inverter produce the same code - separating them needs the pump opened correctly and resealed.
