What 9 Means
Code 9 is a lid switch error - the switch that tells the control whether the lid is open or closed is not reporting reliably. These numeric codes come from the GTW-series GE top-load washer chart - the impeller and agitator top-loaders with a locking lid. They are read out of the control in a service mode, so the same number means something different on GE front-load machines. The machine will not agitate or spin while the lid state is in doubt.
