What 25 Means
Code 25 means the control saw the water level fall when the washer was not draining. These numeric codes come from the GTW-series GE top-load washer chart - the impeller and agitator top-loaders with a locking lid. They are read out of the control in a service mode, so the same number means something different on GE front-load machines. Water leaving the tub when nothing is pumping suggests a leak or a siphon, so it is worth checking before the next load.

- Drain hose pushed too deep into the standpipe, siphoning the tub
- Leaking tub seal, hose or pump
- Drain pump not sealing when off
- Pressure sensor or hose fault giving false readings
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Switch the washer off and look underneath and behind it for water, then dry the area so you can see whether it returns. Check the drain hose is not pushed too far down the standpipe - a hose inserted too deep can siphon the tub empty on its own, which is the harmless explanation for this code. Raise the hose to the height your manual specifies and retest.
