What 27 Means
Code 27 records the lid having been open for more than 15 minutes while there was water in the tub. These numeric codes come from the GTW-series GE top-load washer chart - the impeller and agitator top-loaders with a locking lid. They are read out of the control in a service mode, so the same number means something different on GE front-load machines. It is a state the control noted, not a component fault - but water standing in an open machine is worth dealing with.

- Lid switch not reporting the lid as closed

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Close the lid and run a Drain & Spin to empty the tub, then restart the cycle you wanted. If the lid was closed the whole time and this code keeps being stored, the lid switch is not reporting properly and that is the thing to have checked.
