What F97 Means
F97 is documented by GE alongside F96 as an internal component needing replacement. GE publishes this among its range and wall oven error, fault and function codes for models with electronic oven controls, and asks for a trained technician to diagnose F-codes. It is the control reporting an internal failure; which component is at fault comes from service data rather than the code alone.

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
GE's own first step is to switch the oven's circuit breaker off for a minute or two and then restore power. Record what the oven does after the reset - heats normally, will not heat, display blank, clock only - and quote the exact code when you book. If F97 returns, it needs a technician.
