What Loc Door Means

GE documents a flashing Loc Door display appearing when self-clean has not been selected, and points to a control reset. The oven believes the door should be locked when there is no reason for it to be, which usually traces back to the lock switch or the control rather than the door itself.

Common Causes of Loc Door

  • Door lock switch reporting the wrong position
  • Lock motor part-way through travel
  • Door not closing square, or hinge wear
  • Control board output or input fault
  • Damaged lock wiring

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Open and close the oven door firmly to make sure it seats properly, then ge's own first step is to switch the oven's circuit breaker off for a minute or two and then restore power. Check nothing - a rack tab, a dropped utensil, warped trim - is stopping the door closing square. If Loc Door keeps flashing, the lock assembly or its switch needs attention, and the oven may refuse to heat until then.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • On a built-in wall oven the control and door-lock wiring are reached by unseating the oven from the cabinet - a two-person job with a heavy appliance on a 240 V circuit.
  • The lock is part of the safety chain for self-clean and must be left working properly rather than bypassed.
  • Damage caused during a repair attempt may not be covered - check your warranty terms first.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

FAQ

Loc Door FAQ

No. LOC is the keypad child lockout, a user setting. Loc Door is about the self-clean door lock mechanism.

Sometimes yes, sometimes it refuses to heat. Either way the lock circuit needs sorting before self-clean is used.
