What E10 Means
E10 is a drive motor communication error: the control and the motor drive electronics are not exchanging data reliably. This code belongs to the older GE Profile front-load washer platform - broadly the machines sold through the 2000s and early 2010s, most of which are long out of warranty. The same code string means something different on the newer GE front-load E-code set and on GE top-load machines. The drum will not be driven properly while it persists, so cycles stall.
Common Causes of E10
- Harness or connector fault between control and motor drive
- Failed motor control or inverter board
- Failed main control board
- Moisture in a connector
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
One power reset is worth trying: unplug the washer or switch its breaker off for a minute, then restore power and run a short cycle. If E10 returns, the harness between control and motor drive, or one of the boards, needs testing - there is nothing to adjust from the panel. On a machine of this age, ask for the repair cost before parts are ordered - some faults on this platform cost a large share of what a replacement machine would.

- Both boards and the harness are at line voltage inside the cabinet.
- A communication fault can come from either end or the cable between - parts bought on a guess are often wrong.
