What E14 Means

E14 means the washer overfilled on this platform. This code belongs to the older GE Profile front-load washer platform - broadly the machines sold through the 2000s and early 2010s, most of which are long out of warranty. The same code string means something different on the newer GE front-load E-code set and on GE top-load machines. Overfill is the code family worth acting on immediately, because the consequence is water on the floor rather than a poor wash.

Common Causes of E14

  • Inlet valve stuck open
  • Failed level or pressure sensor
  • Blocked or disconnected pressure hose
  • Control not closing the valve

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Close both taps at the hookup first, then switch the washer off. Run a Drain & Spin if it will accept one so the drum empties. Do not restart cycles to test it - if the inlet valve is not closing, each attempt risks an overflow. Book service and leave the taps closed in the meantime.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • A valve that will not close is an active flooding risk and must be isolated and tested.
  • The parts involved are inside the cabinet at line voltage, in a machine that may still hold water.
  • Damage caused during a repair attempt may not be covered - check your warranty terms first.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

FAQ

E14 FAQ

Draining does not restore fill control. The safe answer is taps closed until it has been checked.

An inline shutoff can limit damage, but it does not fix the underlying fault.
