E2 reports the main control board as defective on this older Profile platform. This code belongs to the older GE Profile front-load washer platform - broadly the machines sold through the 2000s and early 2010s, most of which are long out of warranty. The same code string means something different on the newer GE front-load E-code set and on GE top-load machines. The main board coordinates fill, motor, drain and heat, so faults show up as cycles stopping at random points.
