What nH (Delay Start) Means
A number followed by H - 1H, 2H, 4H and so on - is not a fault. GE lists it as the delay-start display: the dishwasher is counting down that many hours before it begins the cycle you selected. People often read it as an error because the machine sits silent with a code on the panel.
Common Causes of nH (Delay Start)
- Delay Start selected deliberately
- Delay pad pressed by accident when starting a cycle
- Delay left over from a previous setting on models that remember it
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
If you wanted the delay, leave it alone; the cycle starts when the countdown ends. To cancel it, press CANCEL or CANCEL/DRAIN and then select your cycle and press START again. If the delay keeps being selected by accident, check whether the delay pad is being pressed as part of your usual start routine - on some panels it sits right beside the cycle buttons.
