What F3 Means
F3 is a configuration error: the control cannot find the inverter that drives the wash motor. This code belongs to GE's LCD-display dishwasher controls (the PDT/PDP-style panels that spell out F-numbers), not to the older C1-C8 panels. Because the inverter is what varies the motor speed, the wash cycle cannot run properly when the control cannot see it.

- Inverter board not connected or its connector loose
- Failed inverter board
- Harness damage between control and inverter
- Main control board configured for the wrong part after a previous repair

Switch the dishwasher's breaker off for about 30 seconds and back on, then run a short cycle. That is the extent of the owner-level fix for this code. If the code persists, it needs a technician - the inverter, its harness and the main control are all candidates, and telling them apart needs test equipment.

- The inverter is a line-voltage board under the tub, next to the pump and heater connections.
- A control that was replaced with the wrong configuration will show the same code as a failed inverter, so guesswork here gets expensive quickly.
