What E7 Means
E7 means the washer filled too slowly for the control's expectations. This code belongs to the older GE Profile front-load washer platform - broadly the machines sold through the 2000s and early 2010s, most of which are long out of warranty. The same code string means something different on the newer GE front-load E-code set and on GE top-load machines. It is a supply-side code first: taps, hoses, inlet screens and household pressure before anything inside the machine.
Common Causes of E7
- Partly closed taps
- Clogged inlet screens
- Kinked or collapsed fill hose
- Low household water pressure
- Failing water inlet valve
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check both taps are fully open and the hoses are not kinked. Close the taps, unscrew the hoses at the washer end and clean the inlet screens - scale and grit there are the usual cause on a machine of this age. Refit, open the taps, check for drips and restart.

- The parts involved are inside the cabinet at line voltage, in a machine that may still hold water.
