F2 on a GE LCD-control dishwasher means communication failed - the control boards inside the machine have stopped exchanging data reliably. This code belongs to GE's LCD-display dishwasher controls (the PDT/PDP-style panels that spell out F-numbers), not to the older C1-C8 panels. Nothing on the panel can be trusted to reflect what the machine is doing while this code is active, so the cycle usually stops.
Common Causes of F2
- Loose or corroded connector between the user interface and main control
- Damaged harness in the door hinge area, where it flexes on every open
- Failed user interface board
- Failed main control board
- Moisture in a connector after a leak
