What PrS Means
PrS means the pressure sensor is sending an invalid signal to the control. GE is explicit about what usually lies behind it: most likely a harness or sensor issue, and service is recommended. The pressure sensor is how the dishwasher knows how much water is in the tub, so the control cannot safely manage fill without it.
Common Causes of PrS
- Failed pressure sensor
- Damaged, pinched or corroded sensor harness
- Blocked pressure hose or air trap to the sensor
- Moisture in the sensor connector
- Control board input fault
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
One power reset is worth trying: switch the dishwasher's breaker off for 30 seconds, restore power, and start a cycle. That is where owner-level work ends for PrS. If the code returns, book service - and if you see any sign of overfilling while it is faulted, close the dishwasher's water shut-off valve until the visit.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The sensor and harness are under the tub beside the pump and heater connections, all at line voltage.
- GE itself recommends service for PrS rather than parts-swapping, because the harness and the sensor present the same code.
- Damage caused during a repair attempt may not be covered - check your warranty terms first.
