What Sabbath Mode Symbol Means
A small symbol on the display - GE shows it among its non-numeric codes - indicates Sabbath mode is enabled. It is a deliberate setting that keeps the oven at a set temperature with the display, tones and lights suppressed, so the oven appears to ignore normal commands. GE's guidance is to disable the mode to operate the oven normally.
Common Causes of Sabbath Mode Symbol
- Sabbath mode switched on deliberately
- Mode enabled accidentally by a pad combination
- Mode left on by a previous user
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Disable Sabbath mode using the pad sequence in your model's manual - it is usually a combination held for several seconds rather than a single button. Once it is off, the display, tones and normal bake behaviour come back. Nothing needs resetting or repairing.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- None - this is a user setting documented in the manual.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
