What H2O SUPPLY / IE Means

H2O SUPPLY, IE, or the wash and rinse lights blinking together, all mean water is not entering the washer. GE publishes this as part of the Consumer Help Indicator set on 2017 and newer electronic-control washers - messages meant for owners to act on, not technician fault codes. GE asks you to check the house supply valves, and notes the washer starts a four-minute lockout before it retries.

Common Causes of H2O SUPPLY / IE

  • Supply taps closed or only part open
  • Kinked fill hose
  • Clogged inlet screens at the washer
  • Frozen supply line in an unheated space
  • Failed water inlet valve

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Check both hot and cold taps at the washer hookup are fully open, and that neither fill hose is kinked behind the machine. Turn the taps off and unscrew the fill hoses at the washer end to inspect the inlet screens - they clog with grit and scale and are a common cause. Refit them hand-tight plus a nudge, open the taps, and check for drips. Wait out the lockout, then restart.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • None for the taps, hoses and inlet screens - all are owner maintenance.
  • The inlet valve itself is inside the cabinet with line-voltage wiring and the pressurised supply attached.
  • Damage caused during a repair attempt may not be covered - check your warranty terms first.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

H2O SUPPLY / IE FAQ

It can be, because many cycles need both. Check the hot tap and hot hose specifically, and the hot inlet screen.

That leaves the inlet valve or its control, which is where a technician picks up.
