What C7 Means
C7 means the dishwasher's water temperature sensor circuit has become inoperative - the thermistor that reports water temperature, or its wiring, is no longer giving the control a usable reading. GE's published step is to disconnect power for 30 seconds and reset, then contact service if it persists. Without a valid temperature reading, the control cannot manage heated wash or dry properly.

- Failed water temperature thermistor
- Damaged or corroded sensor wiring or connector
- Moisture in the sensor connector
- Control board input failure
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Switch off the dishwasher's breaker for 30 seconds, restore power, and run a short cycle. That is the whole of the owner-level fix for C7. If the code returns, leave the sensor alone and book a diagnosis - a thermistor is an inexpensive part, but reaching it is the work.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The sensor and its harness sit in the sump area under the tub, alongside line-voltage connections to the heater and pump.
- A thermistor has to be verified by resistance against a known temperature - guessing and replacing is how people end up buying a board as well.
- Damage caused during a repair attempt may not be covered - check your warranty terms first.
